Announcement TrailerHands On (RT version, shows tactile and touch style keyboards)The Info You Need To Know: WinRT Surface vs Win8Pro Surface WinRT version releases in October; Win8Pro releases in Jan. Win8Pro is expected to cost considerably more. WinRT = Windows RunTime, and it is pretty much ALL in the 'live tile' Windows 8 New User Interface environment. 'Desktop Mode' exists solely for the using the desktop versions of Internet Explorer and MS Office etc, making it pretty useless, and any 3rd party software (like FireFox or Chrome etc.) won't work. Best to think of this as an all tile tablet. Win 8 Pro = Has a fully functioning 'Desktop Mode' (though you will have to press the Desktop tile every time you start the tablet). 3rd party programs work fine, and Desktop Mode on Win8Pro has some genuine advancements over Win7. If I am correct the Surface includes x1 HDMI port and x1 USB port. The keyboards come with a touchpad aka trackpad style mouse, so that x1 USB port doesn't 'have' to be taken up automatically by a USB mouse.
