Apparently after doing a little research. Its in my video card. Basically the moment I get pass the Windows XP screen. The monitor shuts itself off. I tried safe mode & VGA mode. Hoping I could work around the problem & reinstall the drivers. But that's a no go....

Done anything different with your video card to cause the change?

You know, years and years ago I had this same problem. Like 2004 or something. I think eventually we decided it was the PSU shutting off and eventually dying, forcing us to get a new family PC.

could be your power supply as well not having the guts to start the vid card.

its not the psu. the computer isn't shutting down on its own. like i said, pc comes on just fine until u get pass the Windows XP screen. i switched out the main AC power cable to see if that was the issue. but to no avail. switched out the monitors & that wasn't the problem . so to me, it has to be in the main motherboard or video card

whatever the problem ends up being, i hope it can be fixed. don't exactly have the cash to put out for a new & up-to-date tower

any local computer places near you? one near my house wanted a flat rate of £30 to see what the issue was, but were generally cool in terms of charging costs for the fixed piece.

nope. if my tower is unrepairable best chance for me to even get a new one is either Wal-Mart or TigerDirect.com. I'd like to have a reasonably priced tower with Windows 7 support. As long as its better then what I've got now, then I'll be happy lol

well got some good news & bad news...
Bad News? My PC Tower is shot. Completely unrepairable. All the caps are caroded (sp??) and basically, every single one of them need to be taken out, re-sadered & replaced. According to the repairman. Doing this would cost just about as much as buying a new, more up-to-date PC Tower.
So the Good News?
Went to my local bank earlier this morning. I was accepted for a 90 day loan to have the money to buy a new tower. So with that being said. Ol' Genesis should be back & ready to spew some deadly venom by the end of the Weekend.
