That's right, folks! The Stevens Brothers announced today that they have bought "Lucy's Cafe" and are in the process of remodeling as this article is being written and published. We had a chance to talk to Jacob in between working on the Cafe and working hard to keep the Tag Team division in TNB alive. When asked about the direction they will go with the theme, this is what Jacob had to say:
"I think it's best if we keep that a secret for now. You'll understand if we don't want to give everything away right at once. But, I will give you this much: you will see glimpses of the new and improved 'Lucy's' over the next few weeks."
Jacob sat down with me and I had a full interview with him. Despite his in-ring antics, Jacob is actually a nice guy. We talked about many different things in the interview, and here are some highlights.
...On 'Jacob Stevens':
"Well, in-ring, I'm what the federation needs me to be. You see, if they want a heel, then they'll get a heel. If they want a face, well, I know how to play to the fans that way, too. It's all about business and as long as they can come up with something for me, then I'll keep entertaining for them."
...On buying the Cafe:
"Jason and I just thought it was the right thing to do. It had a few comforts for us while we were green last year, and we couldn't bear to see it shut down. So, when we won these titles, we decided to use the bonus we earned to buy it out. I'm sure that the new 'Lucy's' will hold sentimental value for some other greens when they come through TNB."
...On the tag team division:
"It just needs a little push. I'm a good singles competitor, for sure, but TNB needs a team that will define the division. Before Jason and I came here, there wasn't really that much of a tag team division at all. Now, the execs are starting to get behind us in our effort to prove that tag teams are just as exciting, if not more, as the singles division."
...On Tag Team Turmoil:
"Well, you see, this was part of the tag team initiative. I'm glad that the execs went ahead and made a pay-per-view where it was really focused on the tag team division. Most of these guys are strictly singles competitors, so it will be interesting to see who comes out on top and gets the shot at these titles."
Jacob got a call from Jason at that time and had to leave. This interview didn't turn out like I thought it would, I have to say. Jacob showed a side of himself that made me realize why he's a great moneymaker for TNB. Keep browsing my columns from time to time to see the improvements of Lucy's. You can rest assured that I will have the first scoop on the Grand Reopening of Lucy's coming right from the Stevens Brothers themselves.
