Characters:
No one is invincible. A good character shows vunerability from time-to-time, or becomes unsure of themself in some way. That is just simple character development. If someone is always on their 'A game' despite winning or loosing, or always have to have the last word, or always present themselves as on top of the situation, then it makes for a lot of repetition. Even the best in this business have succum to being hooked on drugs, forced to wear a dress, forced to wrestle naked, become depressed and sometimes suicidal, become insane, been suspended or banned from TV, and other forms of vunerability. It shows more depth to the character and makes them more human. Everyone should be willing to have their character become vunerable.
Groups:
Although the force roleplay rule is in effect (see: Crimes & Punishement), something which goes hand-in-hand with characters being seen as vunerable to keep within the realms of realistic progression... are character's reactions to large heel groups.
The fact is that in real life wrestling heel stables do not tend to have debates on the microphone week after week with no real 'end' to the discussions. Nor do they get brushed off and somewhat ignored when they've got big names and title belts in their control. Instead they kick ass and take names and are viewed very much as a threat. Maybe the next week the faces, after being bested or even humiliated, band together from a position of almost-desperation and neccessity (than a position which seeks to deride the heel group's accomplishments). Maybe a face wrestler even takes time out to sell an injury caused by the heel group, creating a hot feud upon the face's return. People have to ''play the game'' if you will, to keep both their character, heel group's, and general storyline progression grounded in reality - or else things start to veer off track and crash and burn very quickly.
Vunerability and Realism = 'Real Progression'. Let's go forward with that in mind.
