On a warm, bright sunny day. A worker for TNB's website caught up with Genesis at his home in Los Angeles, CA. The two set outside on his porch. Which had a nice view. Overlooking the city of LA. As Gen. sipped on his glass of Champagne that had been previously poured. The interview began.
TNB: So Genesis. 2011 is less then a few weeks away. Going into next year. Desipte your storied career. Your not exactly riding into next season with alot of momentum.
No. Truth is, I'm not. Its a shame really. For someone like me who does bust his ass, and frankly. Does more then it would take one team of five men to do? You'd think I would be doing better. But I'm not. I'm not the bookers so I don't make the decisions of who goes over, and who gets jobbed. One thing I can tell you though. Its the same shit all over again. I dealt with it in 2006 when the company didn't wanna do anything put push, push & push The Avenger til they couldn't do anything else but that.
TNB: Seems like your feud with Avenger goes back further then what we think?
Yeah, its more professional then it is personal. I think this guy is overrated. This guy is likely to make somebodies "top 50" list elsewhere. But not Genesis? I call it bullshit, and to a verteran like me. Its a major slap in the face for everything I've ever done in this business. Everywhere I've been. I've left my thumb print. And ya know what's sad? No one cares, nor remembers it. They all wanna jerk each other off over the old days of a Bingo Hall. Because if you weren't from that place. God forbid, you ever get mentioned nor remembered. Like its some sacred, hallowed ground. To me, its garbage! Its not wrestling. Its not even in 'our universe'. Its like watching a very bad, 'B' Movie flick.
Speaking of Top 50's. Reminds me of a little thing this one place had going. Asking wrestlers who would be in there top list of guys in this business. Funny thing is, only one guy mentioned me. And ya know what's funny? He was my ex-boss, and that spoke volumes to me. That out of everybody that I thought were friends, or colleagues. That it took somebody. That I really didn't have a good relationship with personally. Hell, we weren't even friends. We just had a good relationship on a business level between boss & employee. But he remembered Genesis, and what he did in his career. Stuff like that. Makes me proud. Because it makes my hard work mean something. Like I didn't waste six years of doing this for nothing. While others repeated, and spewed the same old shit over & over & over again. And 90% of those names? Aren't even that good to begin with.
As it relates to TNB? I don't know, and I don't care. My concern is with MoneyMaker Incorporated. If that falls apart? Fuck it! I'm ruling this place myself if I have to. I'm willing to bend over backwards to help my colleagues out. But if there not willing to give that in return? Fuck em'! Far as I'm concerned. See you at the bottom of the river with the rest of the dying fish.
TNB: Money? or Respect? What means more to Genesis?
I'd like to say respect. However, money is a good thing. I laugh when people say that you 'sell out' because you make a decision to go this place, or that place. I don't see it as that. I mean, in the middle-class world. When a person goes to another job for more money. So that he and/or she could better provide for there loved ones. Is that crime? Well, is it?
TNB: No, not at all.
Exactly! So tell me. Why is that in this particular business. That when wrestlers, not just talking myself here. Make the jump to another place. They, the other promoter, feels like they've been screwed? I tell ya why. Its not about personal issues. Its about money! Money is what makes the world go round. I used to be a man of respect. Now? I don't care anymore. Because people won't respect me no matter what. A situation where I can never win for losing.
So now? I'm a business-man's professional wrestler. I go to the highest bidder. Those who can provide me with benefits, cash and everything else so that one day. When I settle down, and get married. I can provide for my family. THAT is what its all about. And if you don't agree with all that, or say otherwise. You're a fucking liar!
Why do you think I stuck around in the other place? Not because I enjoyed it. Its because they offered me good benefits & money to stay there & contribute. Hindsight is 20/20 my friend. If you're a promoter. And you come across somebody that is capable of giving there all to this business 24/7. Week in, and week out. Would you do anything to keep that talent on your roster? I'm sure you would.
They say the 'customer is always right'. Well, in this case. Its the wrestler that is always right. Keep them happy, and you'll be good to go. Don't do it. Then nine times outta ten. They go looking elsewhere looking for employment.
TNB: Wrestling business aside. What is it you would like for Christmas?
Two words... World Domination! And next year? That's is exactly what I'm gonna do. Ya know. For so long. I fought, and defended my actions. Now? I simply don't give a flying fuck. If what I do leads to the end of a promotion. So be it. I am the "King of Controversy". And if your not talking bad about me. Then I'm not doing my job, right?
TNB: One last thing. The Avenger, Ryan Blaze, Chris Lionheart, Shia Storm, and Haven. Which one of these five me would you like to see... I guess succeed the most. Whether they are active, or inactive at this point in time.
None of them. Avenger, Lionheart. I lived in there shadow for so long that it driving me insane. One of them is gone. Now I got one more left to drive away from this place. So when that day happens. You better believe. That I'm gonna bury this guy with so much dirt. That there will never be a chance in hell of him ever recovering. Ryan Blaze, Shia Storm, Haven. Young, talented athletes. Certainly have the potentially to be great stars, if not already in Blaze's case. But until they meet Genesis in the ring. There BARELY a blip on my radar.
My goal for next year is simple. MoneyMaker Incorporated will rise like the phoenix, and take over. Me? I'm going to be your next World Heavyweight Champion. In doing so. The King will have reclaimed his throne as being the top dog in this business.
In closing. With all that in mind?
Learn to live with it... Learn to love it!
